Seamless chairside workflow with vhf machines and Medit software
vhf camfacture AG, a leading manufacturer of dental milling machines, tools, and CAM software, and Medit, a well-known South Korean manufacturer of intraoral scanners and CAD software, have worked closely together to develop a smart chairside workflow. This allows dentists using all vhf machines to benefit from a simple and fully digital workflow – from intraoral scanning and modeling to milling or grinding the restoration.
The entire process of creating the finished restoration is very convenient: First, the prepared tooth is scanned using the Medit intraoral scanner. The restoration is then modeled from the scan data in the Medit CAD software ClinicCAD and trans-ferred directly to the vhf CAM software dentalcam. This is where nesting takes place, i.e., the placement of the modeled restoration on the raw material blank. Finally, the milling process is started. Thanks to vhf directmill technology, the time from transferring a crown from the Medit software to the start of milling can be reduced to less than a minute.
The seamless process chain consisting of a high-quality scan, powerful CAD and CAM software, and a fast and highly precise milling machine enables first-class restorations. These could be fitted to the patient with virtually no reworking on the day of manufacture – and thus during a single appointment – at the dental practice. These so-called chairside treatments are becoming increasingly important because they save time for further treatment and the cost of a temporary restoration.
All vhf machines can be perfectly integrated into this workflow. Particularly noteworthy are the compact E4 and Z4 four-axis milling machines, which can be easily accommodated in any treatment room without external compressed air. Seamless data transfer also reduces potential sources of error.
