How does a vhf milling machine differ from a machining center?
The design of vhf machines differs visibly from that of classic machining centers. While machining centers are mostly used for steel processing with large tool heads, vhf machines are particularly efficient and strong in panel processing, where smaller tool diameters are used. The panels can be fixed in seconds using vacuum clamping technology. This makes vhf machines the perfect addition to existing “classic” machinery in many cases.

Why does vhf use aluminum instead of steel for the machine construction?
vhf deliberately prefers the high-quality and modern material aluminum to steel construction. What are the advantages of panel production using large-format panels?
Reduced effort for machine operation and faster processing
Processing larger panels offers several advantages: The operating time per workpiece is reduced to a minimum because you can mill several workpieces from one panel very efficiently and processing is no longer interrupted by frequent material changes. In addition, with this non-stop processing, tool changes are only carried out once per panel and not per workpiece, which saves you even more valuable time.
Easy handling and full flexibility with efficient material utilization
Fixing the panel by vacuum or setting the zero point is also extremely easy, as working from the large panel does not require the same alignment accuracy as milling workpieces to size.
In addition, any workpiece size can be produced from large panels – from small to large formats, everything is possible. The use of holding bars means that even very small workpieces can be reliably fixed to the vacuum table. This allows you to react flexibly to changing orders.
Basically, the larger the panel, the better the material can be utilized through an optimized arrangement of the workpieces, which enables particularly economical work. Why does vhf prefer high-speed spindles?
There are basically two types of milling spindles. Firstly, spindles with high spindle power at relatively low speed (low-speed spindles) and secondly, spindles with high speed at relatively low spindle power (high-speed spindles). In machining centers, low-speed spindles are usually used for milling large blocks of material, as torque is the key factor here. Very powerful spindles are designed for large tool diameters due to their high torque, meaning that they are less able to handle small tools.
Small tool diameters are generally required when processing panels. In order to be able to work with high feed rates here too, vhf relies on high spindle speeds.
What is the special advantage of vhf vacuum tables?
There are basically two main types of vacuum technology. On the one hand, there is the option of generating a very high vacuum. This variant basically works with a smaller amount of air, which initially generates a higher holding force, but is not (or at least not as well) able to deal with the so-called air leakage that is created by the milling of elements. The flexibility of the applications suffers as a result.
As flexibility is usually a priority for our customers, vhf vacuum tables circulate a high volume of air instead of a strong vacuum. This has the advantage that you can work very flexibly, as a high volume of air can compensate for an astonishing amount of air leakage. This means that the workpiece is still reliably fixed in place even if many objects have already been milled out. The vhf vacuum fleece not only serves as a run-out material for the milling cutter, but also increases the holding force against lateral moving.
Not all machines offer a housing. Can I operate them safely in my production environment?

This is state-of-the-art safety technology that ensures a barrier-free safety zone without impairing handling. This means a high level of protection without restricting accessibility thanks to intelligent installation of the scanner under the machine table – and without any disturbing components that often restrict work processes with conventional safety technology.
In addition, vhf machines have a number of standard safety features that ensure that they can always be operated without a housing. For example, the drive motors automatically reduce their torque with increasing speed, i.e. the drive motors slip at a certain resistance (torque).
