vhf is supporting the Tafel Deutschland food bank with a Christmas donation
A combined commitment to people in need and measures to reduce food waste
Ammerbuch, November 30, 2023 – as one of the leading manufacturers of total solutions for milling machines, vhf takes its corporate social responsibility seriously and has been committed to charitable causes for many years. This year, vhf will be supporting the non-profit association, Tafel Deutschland, with a financial donation under the motto “Don’t spend, donate”.
Prices have been rising significantly faster than social benefits, pensions and salaries for some time. 14.1 million people in Germany are now threatened or affected by poverty, around 2 million of whom regularly use the services of food banks to supplement their food requirements. There are more people in need of help than ever in the 30-year history of Tafel Deutschland, resulting in a sharp increase in the workload for the many volunteers. Almost all the food distribution points are experiencing a huge influx of people in need; average demand has doubled across the country, forcing nearly a third of the food banks to stop admitting users, as they had no food to distribute. The deteriorating situation means that this charitable association continues to rely heavily on donations of various kinds; vhf therefore regularly supports the vital work of the food banks, and this year is no exception.
“It is important to us to support this non-profit aid organization, because not only are we providing assistance to people in need in Germany, but we’re also helping to reduce food waste,” says Ria Brandenberger, Board Member at vhf camfacture AG.
The Tafel food banks are one of the largest socio-ecological movements in Germany, and distribute the food donated to people in need. The volunteer organization operates over 960 food banks throughout Germany.
