vhf supports the food bank Tafel and Feeding America with a Christmas donation
Promoting volunteer work is an important concern for the globally active machine-building company vhf camfacture AG. The parent company in Ammerbuch, Germany, donates to the food bank Tafel, and the US subsidiary vhf Inc. supports Feeding America.
Both the Tafel and its US counterpart Feeding America are aid organizations that distribute food that would otherwise be thrown away, to people in need or sell it at a low price. People with no or low-paid jobs come to them, as do single parents, chronically ill persons, refugees, and people living in poverty in old age. This shows how widespread poverty is and how many people are structurally disadvantaged.
vhf camfacture AG is supporting the Tübingen food bank (Tübinger Tafel e.V.), which also serves Ammerbuch, where vhf is based, with a Christmas donation of €3,000. Like all food banks in Germany, the Tübingen food bank is also challenged by a rapidly increasing demand. The number of customer visits rose by more than 80% from 2021 to 2023.
The Tübingen food bank works exclusively with volunteers, collecting eight tons of goods weekly from over 100 stores or supermarkets, which are first sorted and then distributed to an average of 470 households. In contrast to many food banks that have had to stop accepting new members or reduce their opening hours, the Tübingen food bank was able to continue to accept new members and even extend its opening hours thanks to the great voluntary commitment of its members.
Frank Benzinger, CEO of vhf camfacture AG: “We are a company with strong roots in the region and as such we are aware of our social responsibility. With our donation, we would like to recognize the impressive commitment and the great work of the Tübingen food bank and express our appreciation.”
vhf Inc. from Hauppauge, New York, is donating $1,500 to Feeding America. This is a nationwide, non-profit network of more than 200 distribution centers that provide food to more than 46 million people – including nearly 14 million children – through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other community-based organizations. They are working tirelessly to create a future in which no one has to go hungry.
Christoph Röer, CEO of vhf Inc: “Unfortunately, poverty continues to increase worldwide. I am very pleased that, with our donation to Feeding America, we are able to make a small contribution to alleviating the suffering of the people affected this year as well.”
In line with the motto “donations instead of gifts”, vhf will once again refrain from sending gifts to its business partners during the Christmas season in 2024, while also sending a clear signal in favor of sustainability and against food waste.
