The FAQs on interior fittings for vehicles and boats
What needs to be considered in the milling strategy?
Cooling and extraction – yes or no?
In contrast to many other industries in which one material or a few materials dominate, a wide variety of materials are used in the interior finishing of vehicles and boats. Therefore, when answering this question, a distinction must first be made according to the material to be processed.
For many materials, it is sufficient to use only the cooling effect of our efficient extraction system. The generated air flow and the quickly removed chips and dust give you the desired cooling effect and extremely good extraction performance.
For most metals, we recommend cooling during machining. This extends the service life of your tools and at the same time improves the edge quality of the workpieces. It is particularly smart to combine cooling with our efficient extraction system. This allows you to combine the benefits of cooling with those of efficient extraction. You benefit from significantly less cleaning effort and better milling results.
Should an arbitration hearing be held?
When using a suitable, sharp tool and the right milling strategy, you can achieve such good edge quality with many materials that a finishing pass is not necessary.
For milled parts with a strong focus on the visible edge, a finishing pass can be selected in individual cases to further optimize the edge quality. In most cases, you will achieve a particularly good result with a stock removal of approx. 0.1 – 0.2 mm.
Which milling parameters make sense?
The setting of the feed rate, speed and material removal depends on various influencing factors. On the one hand, the milling machine used and the milling spindle used provide certain framework data. On the other hand, the material, the material thickness and the tool diameter also have an effect. Cooling, lubrication and extraction must also be taken into account. We therefore do not wish to provide static values at this point. Instead, we offer you tool advice from our competent tool sales department – quickly and individually.
What is the best way to fix my workpieces/slabs?
The most efficient way to clamp your workpieces is with the vhf vacuum table. This allows you to fix your panels to the milling machine without tension using vhf vacuum technology. This allows you to mill openings and external contours without any problems and requires almost no set-up work. Clamping on the vhf vacuum table is also the best solution when working with a cutting unit.
